Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Answer Your Common Questions About SSDs

Product Selection

Industrial SSDs are built for 24/7 operation, wider temperature ranges (typically -40°C to 85°C or beyond), and higher endurance in harsh environments. Enterprise SSDs target data-center workloads with emphasis on capacity, throughput, and standard ambient temperatures (0°C to 70°C).

Choose industrial SSD when your application faces vibration, extreme heat or cold, or embedded/field deployment. Choose enterprise SSD for server and cloud storage at controlled temperatures.

Loongtion offers both lines: see /products/industrial and /products/enterprise.
Choose NVMe when you need higher sequential and random I/O, lower latency, and modern host interfaces (PCIe). SATA remains appropriate for legacy IPC platforms, simpler firmware stacks, or when power and BOM cost are tight constraints.

For new industrial designs with PCIe available, Loongtion industrial NVMe SSDs (/products/industrial-NVMe-ssd) typically deliver better performance per watt than SATA equivalents.
BGA (Ball Grid Array) SSD is a solder-down solid-state storage module designed for space-constrained embedded systems. Unlike removable M.2 or 2.5" drives, BGA SSD is mounted directly on the PCB, improving shock/vibration resistance and reducing footprint.

Typical applications: automotive ECU, telecom modules, rugged handhelds, and defense electronics. Loongtion BGA SSD products: /products/BGA-ssd.
Consumer SSDs optimize for cost and desktop workloads. Industrial SSDs add:
• Wide-temperature operation (-40°C to 85°C or wider)
• Higher TBW/endurance for continuous writes
• Power-loss protection and firmware tuned for embedded uptime
• Longer product lifecycle and fixed BOM support

For mission-critical or outdoor/vehicle equipment, consumer SSDs are not recommended. Loongtion industrial products: /products/industrial.
